TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROJECT FOR IMMIGRANTS OPENED
Immigrants in Winnipeg have more access to affordable, temporary accommodations with the official opening today of Centre House, a new 36-bed transitional housing residence in the International Centre, at 406 Edmonton Street. The project is sponsored by the Citizenship Council of Manitoba Inc.

NINE APARTMENT BUILDINGS IN ST. BONIFACE BEING RENOVATED WITH $850,000 FROM AFFORDABLE HOUSING INITIATIVE
Low- and moderate-income residents living in St. Boniface will have access to safe, quality rental accommodations with the renovation of 100 units of affordable housing. The Place St. Boniface project is being made possible with up to $850,000 in funding assistance from the governments of Canada and Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI).

OVER $1 MILLION PROVIDED FOR WILLIAM WHYTE NEIGHBOURHOOD HOUSING IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
Residents will soon benefit from the rehabilitation of more than 20 homes and homeowners will be able to access grants to improve properties in the William Whyte neighbourhood, with the help of over $1 million from the governments of Canada, Manitoba and Winnipeg through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI).

GOVERNMENTS RENEW HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS PARTNERSHIP
Canada, Manitoba and Winnipeg have renewed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) to extend the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI) for another five years. The renewal of the partnership will lead to more safe, affordable housing and programs and services to prevent or alleviate homelessness in Winnipeg.

SPENCE NEIGHBOURHOOD HOUSING PROJECTS RECEIVE OVER $560,000
Residents of the Spence neighbourhood will benefit from the renovation of 15 affordable homes and grants will be available to homeowners and landlords to improve properties in the area. The projects are being made possible with the support of over $560,000 in funding assistance from the Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg, through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI).

L'Arche Celebrates Opening of New Home
It was a celebration of thanks and it marked the official opening of Dayspring, L'Arche Winnipeg's new wheelchair accessible home and soon to be completed community-gathering place at 525 Day Street. The event was held to thank and recognize the many committee volunteers and major donors of L'Arche Winnipeg's "Join our Journey" Campaign.

COMMUNITY GROUPS RECEIVE OVER $8 MILLION TO ADDRESS HOMELESSNESS IN WINNIPEG
Thirty projects announced today will create more transitional shelters, provide additional services and expand programs for homeless people or those at risk of being homeless with over $8 million in funding assistance through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI).

WHHI FUNDS TRANSITIONAL SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROJECT IN WINNIPEG
Two newly renovated homes in the inner-city can now provide individuals living with mental health problems and at risk of being homeless with affordable, transitional and supportive housing. The Westminster Housing Society Inc. purchased and renovated the houses with the help of $508,300 in funding assistance from the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI).

FIRST HOMES TO BE BUILT UNDER NEW AFFORDABLE HOUSING INITIATIVE
Winnipeg residents will soon have access to more safe and affordable housing with the construction of 14 homes in the Spence, William Whyte and North Point Douglas neighbourhoods. The projects are made possible with the help of up to $760,000 in funding from the Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg.
