RENOVATION PROJECTS BOOST AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMMITMENTS IN WINNIPEG TO OVER 3000 UNITS
Renovations to a 42 year-old Elmwood apartment block and a north-end duplex will soon provide an additional 36 units of affordable housing for low-income Winnipeg residents. The projects are being made possible with the support of over $419,000 in funding assistance from the Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg, through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI).

URBAN ABORIGINAL HOUSING CONSTRUCTION PROJECT BEING LAUNCHED IN WINNIPEG
The first urban Aboriginal housing project in Manitoba in over a decade will soon provide 10 new rental homes for Aboriginal families with low incomes living in the Centennial neighbourhood. The project is being made possible with $1.6 million from the Government of Canada, Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI), to Kinew Housing Inc, an Aboriginal owned and operated organization.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECTS SLATED FOR WINNIPEG'S WEST END AND CENTENNIAL NEIGHBOURHOODS
Low-to moderate-income residents in Winnipeg's Daniel McIntyre, St. Matthews and Centennial neighbourhoods will soon have access to more affordable housing with the major renovation of 14 homes and the construction of one new energy-efficient home, with up to $572,000 from the Government of Canada, Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI).

The construction of a new 42-unit apartment complex at 435 Cumberland Avenue will soon provide much-needed affordable seniors' rental housing and services for Winnipeg's Indochina Chinese community. The project is being made possible with the help of $1.7 million from the Government of Canada, Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI).

Low-to moderate-income residents in the William Whyte and North Point Douglas neighbourhoods will have access to more affordable, energy-efficient housing with the construction of 15 new homes, the rehabilitation of four rental units and grants to improve properties. The projects are being made possible with the help of over $1.4 million in funding from the Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI).

The Centre Flavie Laurent will develop a new used furniture distribution depot and expand community outreach to enhance services for homeless or at risk individuals and families in St. Boniface, with the help of $319,673 in funding from the Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI).

Residents in the Spence neighbourhood will soon benefit from more accessible, affordable housing with the construction and rehabilitation of 49 housing units and small grants to homeowners and landlords, with the help of up to $1.6 million from the Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI).

Important addiction treatment programs for youth who are homeless or who are at risk of the negative effects of life on the street are being further supported with over $433,000 in funding to The Behavioural Health Foundation from the Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg, through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI).

NEW AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR SINGLE WOMEN IN NORTH POINT DOUGLAS
North End Housing Project (NEHP) will soon begin construction on a new, 11-unit apartment to provide more safe, affordable housing for single women and single-parent families living in the North Point Douglas neighbourhood. The project is supported with up to $550,000 in funding from the Government of Canada, Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative.

Four local community service providers will share over $478,000 to improve existing transitional housing for people with disabilities, and to continue programming for homeless or at-risk youth in Winnipeg.
