Government partners of the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI) will commemorate National Housing Day this Thursday, November 22, 2007 by applauding the progress being made to address housing and homeless issues.

$1.2 MILLION INVESTED IN SPENCE NEIGHBOURHOOD AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECTS
Comfort and affordability go hand-in-hand with the opening of Spence Cozy Rooms, a 12-unit affordable housing project that received $320,000 from the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI).

NEW AFFORDABLE HOUSING UNITS REVITALIZING WINNIPEG NEIGHBOURHOODS
Aboriginal families with low incomes can soon expect a new home and affordable rent with the construction of ten single-family housing units in Winnipeg's Centennial, St. John's and West Alexander neighborhoods. The project received funding from the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI), a partnership between the Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg.

ABORIGINAL WELLNESS AND LEARNING CENTRE OPENS AT HILLSIDE BEACH, MANITOBA
Aboriginal youth and families in need of spiritual guidance and cultural teaching will find support at the new Windy Hill Learning and Wellness Centre. Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, which is operating the facility, received $1.47 million in funding through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI), a partnership between the Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg.

NEW AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECT OPENS IN WINNIPEG
The paint is barely dry but tenants have already moved into 1 Flora Place, the brand new affordable housing development in Winnipeg's Dufferin neighbourhood. The project, which officially opened today, is owned and managed by the Winnipeg Housing Rehabilitation Corporation.

NEEGINAN VILLAGE ('OUR PLACE') TRANSITIONAL HOUSING COMPLEX RECEIVES $6.1 MILLION
Aboriginal students who are single parents or have a disability, and who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless, will have a safe and accessible place to call home when Neeginan Village opens its doors. Canada's New Government, the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg are contributing $6.1 million through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI) and the Winnipeg Partnership Agreement (WPA).

Hannah's Place emergency shelter opens doors
Men, women, and families in search of a warm bed and a hot shower can find a safe haven at Siloam Mission's new emergency shelter, Hannah's Place. The project received funding through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI), a partnership of the federal, provincial and municipal governments.

Governments Invest $2 Million for New Affordable Housing in Winnipeg
Low-income seniors in St. Vital will benefit from more than $2 million in funding to build a supportive housing and assisted living apartment block as part of the Riverside Lions Seniors Residences Inc. project. The project is made possible with funding support from the Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg, through the Winnipeg Housing and Homelessness Initiative (WHHI).
